THE CAUSE OF WRINKLES ON THE NECK AND DÉCOLLETÉ
Biologically, the aging process of the skin begins in the twenties. To be precise, it slows down cell division and thus the new production of skin cells. As a result, the skin loses elasticity, collagen fibers and volume, leading to thinner skin layers.  Sebum production decreases, and moisture retention in the skin also decreases. But not only our face shows the signs of time in the long run, the skin on the neck is at least as susceptible to the first wrinkles, because what few people know: the skin here is even thinner and sometimes even more sensitive than that on the face, and at the same time is stressed by constant movement. In addition, the neck and décolleté are also exposed to many environmental influences, such as UV rays and polluted air. One thing is certain, you will never be able to completely prevent the formation of wrinkles, but they can be delayed for quite a while. It is important to include the neck and décolleté in your daily beauty routine. But smoking, alcohol and a poor diet can also promote the formation of wrinkles. Furthermore, hereditary predisposition also plays an important role in the formation of neck wrinkles.
HORIZONTAL NECK WRINKLES
Horizontal wrinkles are also called transverse wrinkles or embryonic wrinkles. They run parallel to the chin and are influenced, among other things, by posture and movement. During the day it is recommended to walk upright and keep the neck stretched. However, we can also prevent horizontal neck wrinkles while sleeping by lying on our back with our head resting on a neck pillow. This will relax the neck and shoulders and stretch the neck.
VERTICAL NECK WRINKLES
Since these wrinkles resemble the neck of a turkey, they are often called “turkey wrinkles”. Responsible for this type of neck wrinkles is the so-called platysma muscle, which, when slightly tensed, already exposes two muscle strands, which then act like wrinkles.
TREATMENT OF NECK AND DÉCOLLETÉ
First of all, it should be said that the treatment of wrinkles on the neck definitely belongs in professional hands because of the vessels and the larynx. Moreover, with the right combination of treatments, very good and long-lasting results can be achieved.
Vertical neck wrinkles can be treated with Botox. This is also known as the “Nefertiti Lift”. By immobilizing the skin muscle and thus relaxing it, the skin is tightened and wrinkles are smoothed.
Horizontal neck wrinkles can be filled, among other things, with a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid produces increased water absorption in the tissue and is therefore suitable for the short-term treatment of neck wrinkles.
To achieve long-lasting results, but also to delay the formation of wrinkles, we recommend a combination of Radiesse® – a collagen booster and Ultherapy® – a highly focused ultrasound.
Radiesse® stimulates the body’s own cells to form a natural collagen network by injecting it into the skin. The result is a long-term strengthening of the skin’s structure. In diluted form, it is not a filler, but a very good material to build collagen. Radiesse® has been on the market for twelve years and contains only ingredients that are completely degradable by the body, yet a long-lasting effect is guaranteed because the main ingredient, calcium hydroxyapatite, stimulates the skin’s own collagen formation.
Ultherapy® is a new, innovative ultrasound method. It reduces wrinkles, tightens contours and ensures that collagen and elastic fibers in the connective tissue grow again. Using ultrasound, the skin layers are defined on a screen and a focused ultrasound is added to trigger targeted impulses. The ultrasound heats the deeper skin layers of the connective tissue at up to 50 degrees Celsius. The ultrasound head is placed on the area to be treated. Loose collagen fibers contract again, and the new production of elastic and collagen fibers in the connective tissue cells is stimulated. The results are visible over a period of several months, revealing a younger and more contoured appearance.
